“Having Baths of Joy is a source of strength to Rima people because when we have a water problem we can always head for there,” said Annette, a lady from one of the neighbourhoods in Trench Town that relies on the public baths. For two weeks a team from Logos Hope helped revive the baths by refitting the clogged piping, concreting the ground that had become marshy, and replacing the metal walls that had been vandalized. For some, this was an answer to prayer. But when asked if this improvement will make a difference, another local named Tassy replied, “Basically everybody have to love each other, accept their wrong. Then the place will be better.” For her, the answer to a broken community lies not in the outside appearance, but the inside.
