Sharing hope in Empangeni

Richards Bay, South Africa :: Logos Hope partner with MusaweNkosi Ministries, who bring hope to those in their neighbourhood.

Colin and Rebekah Cooper joined MusaweNkosi Ministries in 2019, which was started by Colin's mother-in-law, Elaine. The organisation, located just 15 kilometres from Richards Bay, South Africa, is involved in the communities in and around Empangeni. Through their children’s home, weekly feeding scheme, training courses and home visits, they bring hope to the hungry, orphans and widows in need by providing practical and educational help.

Six teams from Logos Hope visited the premises to help renovate the roof of one of the organisation’s children’s homes and to lay a water line. At the end of the day, the team also had the opportunity to interact with the children there, playing games and sharing stories.

Crewmember Manoa (Switzerland), who serves on board in the Accommodation Services department, helped at the orphanage on two occasions. "My role was to weld a broken gate and carry out other welding work,” he says. “We were also able to help install a water pipe. I really enjoyed doing this for this amazing community."

Organisational leader, Colin, expressed his gratitude to the multi-national crew, saying, "I'm really impressed with the dedication of the crewmembers. They’ve done far more than I thought possible. It's really great to talk to them while we're working, to hear their background and what their role is on the ship."

Thank you to MusaweNkosi Ministries and to all organisations that partner with us to share knowledge, help and hope in the ports we visit!
