2024 annual maintenance on Logos Hope

Durban, South Africa :: Logos Hope undergoes annual maintenance.

Logos Hope had her 2024 annual maintenance in Durban, South Africa from 15 April to 5 May.

While most of the non-technical crew were sent out in teams to serve communities across the country and beyond, and families to accommodation on shore for this time, the crew, project workers, shipyard workers and hotel and catering teams were busy tackling the 450 jobs to be completed this year. This included tank inspection, rust removal on exterior decks, electrical work, deep cleaning of accommodation areas, and plumbing and carpentry work, to name but a few.

Andre (Netherlands) was a crewmember in 2012 for two years and has since returned as a project worker. His highlights were the good community and connecting with local workers on board.

Another project worker, Marlin (Trinidad and Tobago), who worked on keeping the lifeboats in good condition, said that what motivates him to come back and help with the annual maintenance, apart from the friendly atmosphere, is the work the ship does, sharing hope around the world – a project he greatly values.

Matt Blair (Australia), technical project manager, said, “We have been blessed with everyone working together as a team with high morale. We are grateful for the good working relationship we have had with the DORMAC shipyard [and] we are also very thankful that no serious injuries occurred during this time of greater risk.”

As well as getting the ship back into optimum condition, the vessel was again granted her Passenger Ship Sailing Certificate (PSSC), enabling her to sail for another year.
