Cardiff, Wales :: Doron Lukat (Germany) steps aboard as the vessel's latest director.
Doron Lukat (Germany) was officially appointed as director of GBA e.V.’s vessel, Logos Hope on 14 September. The handover ceremony, which took place on board, saw outgoing Director Decio De Carvahlo (Brazil) pass on the baton, having served in the leadership role for the past year.
CEO Seelan Govender (South Africa), who attended the ceremony in Cardiff, shared his appreciation for the service of Decio and his wife Elba (Puerto Rico) and what they had brought to the organisation.
Doron added that the couple had been role models for his own family, "as people that exemplify what it means over the years to stay faithful through the ups and downs... We need leaders who have run before us and who are examples for us," continued Lukat... "And you are those people. And I really want to thank you for that."
Decio meanwhile shared his appreciation to the onboard community, saying, "We're very thankful for this opportunity to come and to work alongside all of you. It's been amazing. I really, really admire each one of you as you serve [God and] as you continue to strive to learn, to grow and to love."
A new season
Incoming Director Doron is no stranger to ship life, having served on board Logos Hope in the visitor experience deck, events and advance preparation teams from 2009-2012. During this time, he met his wife Lilian (Chile), who worked in the cleaning team, in bookfair and as part of member care. The couple married in 2012 and now return as a family to serve on board, together with their three children.
"I feel very excited for this opportunity to live and serve on board Logos Hope," said Doron, noting the profound impact the organisation has had in the life of both he and his wife. "We feel honoured and humbled to be given a leadership mandate to shape [the work] over the next few years."
GBA Ships want to thank the De Carvahlo's for their dedication and service on board Logos Hope over this past year and are excited to see the Lukat family rejoin the work of GBA Ships, as a new chapter begins.
