Kota Kinabalu Malaysia :: Nathan Schmutz is appointed as director for Doulos Hope
On 17 September 2023, Nathan Schmutz (Switzerland), officially became the first director of newest vessel of the GBA fleet, Doulos Hope. Nathan, and his wife Ruth (Guatemala) take on the baton of leadership from Mark (UK) and Kathy (Australia) Knight, who have been leading the Doulos Hope community since her initial set-up in 2023 and early days of service.
Having served previously on board sister ship, Logos Hope, in 2017, Nathan and Ruth are excited to have the opportunity to get to know the Doulos Hope community and help oversee the growth and development of her crewmembers during their time on board.
Community leader, Mark Knight said he was “overjoyed” to see Nathan and Ruth take up the leadership position. “I think the timing is perfect,” he continued. “We’re thrilled to be able to pass the vessel into safe hands.”
The couple are also looking forward to spending time in the Southeast Asia region, where Doulos Hope will be located for the next number of months.
Nathan said, “I am very excited and humbled to be able to be part of this amazing endeavor, which has now launched thanks to the effort of so many people around the world. Even more exciting is the wonderful opportunity to share with the people in the ports we will visit, and I look forward to spending time with many of them.”
