Seville, Spain :: After completing a 14-day voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, Logos Hope arrived in her first European port of 2026, Málaga, Spain!
Logos Hope partnered with local communities in Malaga, serving alongside them by facilitating events to inspire and equip others to share knowledge, help and hope.
Local volunteers also served alongside crew and brought much joy to the ship.
“Seeing how many people came to the events and how many came to visit the bookfair was just incredible. Many lives were impacted. Volunteers messaged me saying, ‘Thank you so much…’ One of them keeps texting me saying, ‘since Logos Hope was here my life has been changed, completely transformed,’” Jossy (Paraguay), said.
Annual maintenance
In Seville, Spain, Logos Hope underwent major changes and refurbishing across all decks, especially the Visitor Experience deck.
In the visitor deck the flooring was changed, there were new spaces made for visitors to rest while going through the bookfair and a new information desk system was installed for visitors to find books, among other things.
Crewmembers participated in routine drills, equipment testing, cleaning and maintenance. Each person played a vital role in supporting the vessel’s daily operations and ensuring a safe working environment for all.
“Every year we get volunteers, not only, of course, our crew, but we get special skilled workers who actually give up their annual holiday and come out to the vessel and help us.
“This year we had around 25 who came and travelled and helped us during this period. Without their valuable skills and experience, it's very difficult to do what we do,” shared Matthew (Australia), annual maintenance project manager.
Over 500 jobs were completed during this time with the help of the 25 project workers from all over the world. In total around 180 people worked on board during the annual maintenance.
“We are grateful to everyone who has supported… and encouraged us along the way. Most of all, we acknowledge with thanks all those on board who worked so hard to complete the work we set out to do,” Matthew added.
“To those who've been supporting us financially… we really do appreciate everything. You are making it possible for us to impact people's lives around the world,” shared James (United Kingdom), Visitor Experience Deck renovation project manager.
