Labuan, Malaysia :: Doulos Hope’s visit to Labuan draws praise from national leaders for her role in education, culture, and community impact.

Doulos Hope received an uplifting show of support during her recent visit to the Federal Territory of Labuan, Malaysia, as she welcomed two distinguished guests on board: His Royal Highness Tunku Idris Iskandar, the Tunku Temenggong of Johor, and Datuk Seri Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories).

His Royal Highness Tunku Idris Iskandar toured Doulos Hope and visited her onboard bookfair, engaging with the international volunteer crew and learning more about her mission. The prince’s presence brought a sense of honour and encouragement to all on board, affirming Doulos Hope’s efforts in promoting literacy, unity and service throughout the region.

The crew also had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Zaliha Mustafa. Addressing crew, she expressed her admiration for Doulos Hope’s purpose and the joy it brought to the community.

“More than 25,000 people have come to see the ship,” she stated. “This is an opportunity for the people of Labuan, especially the children, to come on board and perhaps cultivate their learning curve here.”

Having experienced the bookfair, the minister reflected on the deeper meaning behind Doulos Hope’s name:

The name Hope actually portrays what we want for the world – hope, and for everyone to enjoy life in this world in whatever manner.”

She added, “It’s good to have this kind of concept going from one place to another, introducing the locals to other cultures and activities.”

Before departing, she extended a warm message to the crew: “Please come back again to Labuan!”

The visits served as a reminder of the broad support for Doulos Hope’s vision, not only from communities around the world but from national leaders who value the ship’s vision of sharing knowledge, help and hope.
