Together as one

Limassol, Cyprus :: Logos Hope welcomes Guests of Honour Mr. Vassilios Demetriades, Shipping Deputy Minister to the President, Republic of Cyprus, and Mr. Nawaf Abdula, CEO of DP World Limassol to officially open the bookfair to the public in Limassol, Cyprus.

On Saturday the 26th of November, Logos Hope received many guests for the official opening of the bookfair to the public in Limassol. Managing Director Edward David (Malaysia) said, “We are making history here. It is the first visit of Logos Hope to Cyprus and we are excited that we can be here for such a time as this.”

We were blessed to welcome Guests of Honour Mr. Vassilios Demetriades, Shipping Deputy Minister to the President, Republic of Cyprus, and Mr. Nawaf Abdula, CEO of DP World Limassol, who were both very supportive of Logos Hope crewmembers and their work. Mr. Demetriades said, “It is not just a vessel. It is not just a floating bookfair. The mission and principles Logos Hope carries are prime examples of how we should work together. With [over 350 people] on board, acting as a family, it is a message that we must bring our common values together, making them more visible and working for a better and more peaceful future. Over 60 different nationalities and cultures, yet they act as one ambassador when visiting local communities. It is a message that diversity does not bring division, but unites people, if we use it wisely and want to work together for a better future.”

Mr. Nawaf Abdula, CEO of DP World, echoed this, “I was very pleased to see diversity and inclusion. It shows us that we are all united, no matter where we come from, no matter what we look like, no matter our age. We will continue to support the organisation and we are happy to have [Logos Hope] in Limassol.”

Captain James Berry (UK) responded by saying, “We have quite a unique crew of volunteers, over 350 people from 65 different passport nationalities, with many great individual stories and connections. In the same way, we know that the most important part of Cyprus is her people. I hope that many of your people and our crew will meet, then there will be good connections and lasting memories from this visit.”

Logos Hope and Cyprus are both alive with diversity, a strength that enables us to come together as one during this visit.
