A unique cultural experience

Manama, Bahrain :: Logos Hope arrives in Manama Bahrain and is ready to welcome visitors up her gangways.

Guests of Honour and acting CFO of APM Terminals, Mr Farooq Zuberi, Ms. Farah Mohammed Mattar, Director of Culture and Arts and Ms. Aysha Al Sada, Chief of Cultural Programmes and Awareness, officially opened Logos Hope to the public in Manama, Bahrain on Wednesday 7 June.

Captain Ionut Vlad said, “We welcome you on board the largest floating bookfair in the world. You may have heard that we have over 5,000 different titles of books in our bookfair, something for everyone in the family. As I like to say, leaders are readers, and you are leaders and influencers representing your communities. Thank you for welcoming us to your country. We are looking forward to our time in port.”

Mr Zuberi said, “I would like to welcome Logos Hope, the vessel and the crew, to Bahrain and to our port. As port operators, APM Terminals, we are here to facilitate the visit of the ship. There is a lot of excitement about the ship’s visit to Bahrain. You have nice programmes lined up here and I think we will all enjoy them. Even my wife read about Logos Hope’s visit on Instagram and wanted to be here today. People all over Bahrain will certainly come and enjoy this unique cultural experience.”

Speaking on behalf of the President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, His Excellency Ambassador Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Ms Mattar said, “We are happy to open this bookfair today. Books are an integral part of learning about cultures and having all these nationalities visit us is a wonderful privilege. We hope we can exchange a little bit of our cultures with one another. We hope that many people visit and bring their children.”

Logos Hope looks forward to welcoming many visitors up her gangways during her time in port. Visitors will be able to browse the wide selection of titles in the bookfair and attend various programmes held on board between 7-20 June 2023.
